Get To Know Dr. Owens
Dr. Jarvis B. Owens, also known as Dr. Jay, knew dentistry was for him during a career day during high school. He had the opportunity to shadow a dentist in his hometown of Chicago and fell in love with it. In particular, he loved how every day could present new challenges and opportunities to develop long-lasting relationships with patients. Immediately following high school, Dr. Owens enrolled in a pre-freshman summer program at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA where he was exposed to various health professional careers and his choice of dentistry was solidified.
Upon graduating from Morehouse with honors with a B.S. in Biology, Dr. Owens took a gap year prior to enrolling in dental school and received his M.S. in Biomedical Sciences from Barry University. After Barry, Dr. Owens gained acceptance into the top dental school in the nation, the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.
While at Michigan, he held various leadership positions and was a member of multiple organizations including Class President and President of the Student National Dental Association. He also delved into the digital side of dentistry which has become extremely popular over the years. He hopes to bring his passion for digital dentistry and also surgical dentistry to the Webster and Clear Lake communities for years to come.
Outside of the office, Dr. Owens can be found often traveling to Greenville, North Carolina where his significant other, Dr. Erin Howard, is enrolled in a pediatric dentistry residency. Together, they love to explore all of the different food options and attractions available in the Houston area. In the near future, their plan is to travel together and visit a new country every year. Dr. Owens is passionate about mentoring future dentists and showing them how amazing dentistry can be.
